President Ross welcomed the 24 attendees including; Chris de Fraga, our guest speaker. Chris is a Rotarian from North Balwyn and a motoring journalist. He will be talking about road safety which is very timely with the holiday season about to start. Other Guests were Léo Bégué, Kay Didenkowski, Mary Soppitt and Ron King. Lots to report on this week, the open Family weekend at Camp Getaway, plans for the BBQ at Tottenham Railway Station, the Christmas Party and not forgetting early bird booking for the district conference.
The Gellibabies are on the move again – this week at Santorini in Parker St Williamstown since our home at RVMYC was unavailable due to an all day function but we return next week to our home base. We Gellibabies are a gifted lot and this showed with the fast footwork of the pres and his lady when our scheduled guest speaker had to pull out at late notice. Call it divine intervention if you like but the Rev Bill Beagley from All Saints Anglican Church in Williamstown was able at very short notice to not only fill the gap but inform and entertain us once again – this time about his role as the prison chaplain at Port Philip Prison. Our guests also included Sandra Prendergast – Teacher & Coordinator at Aitken College; Ellie Horsey – well known to many of us through her connections to Inner Wheel and previously served on the Fort Ball Committee; David and Micki Rathgen, friends of Bill Dagg and our favourite Frenchman Leo Bégué. A special welcome back to our newlyweds Susan (nee Sahhar) and John Katopodis, who were married last Sunday 5th November.

We’re at it AGAIN (Don’t ask WHY!!) but it was Oktoberfest in Williamstown on the 25th October another excuse as if we need one for the Gellibabies to have fun .
Despite the cold night a little part of Williamstown was turned into the Bear Gardens of Munich and fantastic German Cuisine and amber fluid were partaken with the spirit of adventure associated with the club. Despite having to relocate for logistical reasons the night went off with a bang reminiscent of the ‘Eugene Nights’ of old thanks to PE Raimonda Krogmann, and Pres Ross Magor unt Frua Marlene
The Gellibabies continue to be different, this week, a lady in the Chair! Spies from another club; an enthusiast from the Substation centre for arts and culture; Students from Hobson’s Bay International Friendship Association visit to Japan, Pink Wigmakers extraordinaire and PP Doug Bews talking about his recent month and a half in Japan visiting his partner there. Lots happening AGAIN!!
All this with Ross the Boss away sunning himself and Marlene on the sands of Port Douglas; which must be the location for the local Plumbers convention with Treasurer Peter Nisbet off to the same destination within days.
This week the Gellibabies have broken new ground once again with TWO events in one week!!
Firstly the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Breakfast attended by masses of supporters was held Tuesday 4th. In the capable hands of Master of Ceremonies PP Kevin Gunn the Breakfast with guest speaker Dr Chantel Thornton off to a quick start since Chantel had a busy schedule with her surgery list commencing at 9-00am.
And then the Progressive Dinner held on Saturday 8th with lots of Gellibabies fun and frivolity and a celebration of PDG Jeffrey and Elaine Birds 50th wedding anniversary. – So we decided to have a night off next week so NO meeting on the 11th!!
President Ross extended a warm welcome to the 37 attendees including partners, Exchange student Leo, Britt (Helen Keating’s daughter), Matt (boyfriend), Julie Feehan (Helen’s sister) and guest speaker Ray Horsburgh.
Given it was her birthday Ross presented PE Raimonda with a crown and a bottle of her favourite Port. Shows what can happen when you show up at Rotary on your birthday
As it was a footy theme night everyone came dressed in their Club regalia and a handball competition kicked off before the meeting commenced. The set would have done World of Sport proud. Bruce McCracken eventually won with a perfect score. Could be called up by the Bullies in 2012??
President Ross welcomed the 20 attendees including guest speaker John Dow and our exchange student Leo to a betting themed night of Gellibabies fun which would not be complete without a bit of a flutter.
All will be revealed about the mystery object pictured here later in the bulletin. No it’s not the cake we had for dessert but something a bit healthier than that!!
President Ross welcomed the 24 attendees including Andrew Oakley back from holidays and guest speaker Peter Taylor.
President Ross extended a warm welcome to the 20 attendees including our own adventurous Captain Bruce McCracken not to be confused with Captain Chaos who could not be with us and Commander Doug Bews who were both scheduled to speak of their recent travels as it turned out Bruce kept us well entertained with his many exploits and Doug’s adventures had to be held over to another evening
Ross announced that good news was the order of the day for Ray Ross since tests showed his PSA was undetectable suggesting that the prostate surgery had not only been timely but successful. Ray and Marie couldn’t hope for a better report on the eve of their holiday.
We had The Big Band, Kids, Frenchmen, Father Christmas and the Elf, Lights, Candles, Bonbons, Caricatures of the famous, The Raffle, The Magician, Daydreamers and Yarravillians all together to have a good time before the Christmas rush hit us all.
What a good night it was thanks to Capt Chaos and the bravely limping Lolly Lady for their flawless organisation and to PE Raimonda for the decorations and the caricatures and PP Doug for organising the band. (Rest that ankle Faye and get well soon!!)
Our favourite PDG gave us his rendition of Goldilocks the Thief and needless to say that the Fooooooood was fabulous!! And the vegetarian option was a sensation according to the boss lady!
